Areas of expertise

The MSB has a number of different areas of expertise on its roster and new individuals are continuously being registered on the roster to be prepared for work in MSB operations.

The areas of expertise within which the MSB operates, are based on our disaster management mandate and the needs requested by our partner organisations.

Different areas of expertise

The MSB is looking for people within a number of areas of expertise and endeavours to have quality-assured and trained individuals on our roster within the following areas.

Levels of the areas of expertise

The MSB seeks people within all areas of expertise at different levels, which we designate as the practitioner, the expert and the leader.

The practitioner

The practitioner is a person with solid professional experience who can undertake tasks within his or her chosen field and complete them in an independent manner. In general, MSB requires this category to have a basis of upper-secondary school education, preferably supplemented by professional preparatory training or university courses. Practitioners must have at least three years of professional experience.

The expert

The expert is expected to have a solid knowledge and experience within his or her chosen field and should be able to instruct others. When required, he or she should may also act as a team leader. In general, at least one university degree is required as well as a minimum of five to seven years of professional experience. 

The leader

The leader is a person with a solid experience of their particular field as well as leadership experience. He or she should possess a strategic and visionary approach and also be able to lead others within their field. In general, a leader is required to have a higher university degree as well as a minimum of seven to ten years of professional experience.
