EU and critical infrastructure protection

MSB is the designated national contact point for the work performed within the scope of Council Directive 2008/114/EC on the identification and designation of European critical infrastructures
and thereby also the European Programme for Critical Infrastructure Protection (EPCIP).

This means that MSB shall coordinate questions regarding protection of critical infrastructure (essential services) in Sweden with relevant stakeholders in Sweden, with other Member States, and with the European Commission. MSB shall also assist in the work on identifying potential European critical infrastructure within the Swedish Energy and Transport sectors.

EU-US-CA

Within the scope of EPCIP, there is a cooperation with the United States and Canada with the purpose of exchanging information and experiences on societal functions and social provision.

The European Reference Network for Critical Infrastructure Protection (ERNCIP) PoC

MSB participates as expert in the European Reference Network for Critical Infrastructure Protection (ERNCIP). Within the network, work is undertaken in various thematic projects. Ongoing projects include, for example, information security within cyber-physical systems, compilation of laboratory capacity in Europe, and security/protection against antagonistic threats/terrorism. The participation in ERNCIP also means gathering knowledge and finding participants for new projects from Sweden.
